Consider an internship program. Options include volunteer, honors, visiting science or Middle Eastern foreign language honors internship programs. Each of these programs is offered in Washington, DC in the summers for undergraduate and graduate students. The volunteer internship program is also available to high school graduates.

Search the FBI website for job opportunities. You can just browse, register as a new user or log in as a registered user.

Review your current educational background. If necessary, consider an undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field to the position you're interested in, such as criminal justice.

Attend FBI career fairs and talk with the recruiters even if you feel you are not yet qualified. This networking will give you specific direction on how to work toward your dream opportunity. A listing of events by state is posted on their site.

Decide to apply for a position. In order to do this, you must register with the jobs system on their site.

Fill out the application questions, which consists of essay and multiple choice questions. You can finish your application at any time.

Prepare your resume to be attached to your application online. It must include a summary of achievements along with your full name, mailing address, email address, all phone numbers, education, work experience and other qualifications.
