Before the cow bells became a spoof phenomenon on television, they were popular in Latin music and to cheer on sports teams, not to mention a good way to identify your cows! Cow bells are simple to play and add something special to just about any situation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Hold the cow bell in the palm of one hand. Point the open end of the bell towards your fingers.

  2. Step 2

Place the drumstick in your other hand, with the tip in your palm. Make a loose fist around the stick. Hold the stick tightly between your thumb and the second knuckle of your forefinger. Adjust your grip so the drumstick can pivot slightly.

  3. Step 3

Strike the open edge of the cow bell with the side of the blunt end of the drumstick. The result will be the most familiar cow bell sound.

  4. Step 4

Produce a different sound by striking the broad, flat surface of the cow bell with the tip of the drumstick. Vary between the two techniques to get higher and lower tones.

  5. Step 5

Hit the cowbell rhythmically with the music to spice up any song.

Tips & Warnings
