If your pet seems to have accidents in the same spot, it might be because there is a lingering odor in that area. Here are some helpful ways to remove the odor and hopefully keep the area accident free.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Apply club soda liberally to the effected area and blot with paper towels. Allow to dry and vacuum the area.

  2. Step 2

Pour 1/4 inch of baking soda over the area if the odor still persists after the club soda method has dried.

  3. Step 3

Leave the baking soda over the area for two days to absorb any lingering odors. Do not touch the baking soda. After the two days, vacuum the area.

  4. Step 4

Mix 1 cup of peroxide, 1 tbsp. of baking soda and 1 tsp. of dish soap. Stir the mixture well and rub into the area with a sponge if neither of the above methods has worked. Allow to dry and vacuum the area.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wait a day or two between methods so the area can completely dry.
  • If all else fails, do not allow your pet into that room any longer.
  • Perform a color test on a smaller patch before using any of the methods on a larger area.

on 7/23/2008 Interesting tips! I have a very sensitive nose for odors and nothing I’ve used has worked better than the RGF Guardian Air Plug in Plus. I have one in my basement, bedroom, and next to the cat litter box! It eliminates those funky smells and makes me feel good about my house. I’d recommend it to everyone!
