The Eighteen Hole Party is a popular event to throw while working on your undergraduate degree in college or as a full time graduate student. It's marked by eighteen different hosts serving eighteen different drinks and appetizers (like the apartment version of a pub crawl). Here are some tips about how to throw an eighteen hole party.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Pick a date to throw your party. Eighteen hole parties are best held starting in the afternoon so that people have enough time to visit each destination. Make sure that your college doesn't have any major events scheduled that day (like a bowl game) that would interfere.
Step2
Gather eighteen of your closest friends. This is the trickiest part, as many people love the thought of the idea, but have little conviction when it comes to following through. Select people who are fun, responsible, and who won't mind slightly inebriated guests traipsing through their apartment or dorm room. Also, try and cluster the people as close as possible; you don't want one host to be a half-mile from everyone else.
Step3
Decide who will be serving what for your eighteen hole party. This is where creativity comes into play. You can set a theme, like a luau, or simply make it pot luck, where every host comes up with their own drink and food ideas. The trick is to make a master list and be sure that no one is repeating a similar dish or drink.
Step4
Send an e-vite to all of your friends. With such a massive list of hosts, you're going to need a sizeable guest list, so be sure to invite at least fifty people. In the invite, include a map and brief description about what can be found in each room, as well as times certain "holes" will be open.
Step5
Decorate each room for your eighteen hole party. This really takes the experience to the next level, as now not only the food and drink are representative of your theme, but the decor is as well. Go to the dollar or discount store for cheap knick-knacks that will enhance your theme.
Step6
Have fun with your group. The party is planned and the day has arrived; now it's time to have fun and socialize with your guests. If you are in charge of the group, be sure to keep people moving. That way, as the earlier holes finish up, they can join the group as you make your way through the afternoon and evening.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always use safe drinking practices. This includes designating a driver, if needed and limiting consumption to a tolerable level. Every hole should offer non-alcoholic beverages as well.
