Looking to get rid of some of your old books but you prefer to see them sold rather than give them away or throw them in the trash? You can sell your books on Amazon.com. This is a great way to clear up your bookcases and maybe even earn a little extra cash. Follow these instructions and you'll be ready to start selling today!

    Get an Account

  1. Step 1

    Go to the "Amazon" website. Click on the "Your Account" tab in the upper toolbar.

  2. Step 2

    Type in your email address. Then you will be taken to another screen to set up your account.

  3. Step 3

    Choose a password that only you will know and that no one else can guess.

  4. Step 4

    Register a credit card. Amazon.com will ask you for credit card and billing information. Then, within a couple of days, Amazon.com will contact your credit card company to verify your information.

  5. Step 5

    Wait for confirmation that your seller's account has been set up. You should receive an email.

  6. Step 6

    Select the type of shipping method you will offer your buyers.

  7. Step 7

    Confirm that all the details you've submitted are true, and add your book to the Amazon.com marketplace.

    Search for the title of the book you wish to sell.

  10. Step 2

    Choose the book you wish to sell from the list of search results.

  11. Step 3

    Click the button on the screen that asks if you would like to sell this book. This button is usually below the "Add to Shopping Cart" button.

  12. Step 4

    Decide on a price you would like to sell your book for.

  13. Step 5

    Give the buyers an accurate and detailed description of the condition of your book. Be sure to let the buyer know if your book is hardcover or softcover.

Tips & Warnings
  • Amazon.com will pay you a standard amount for shipping, regardless of how large or heavy your book is. If you have a particularly heavy book, you may want to increase your price to help cover some of the extra shipping.
