Niagara Falls is one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in the United States. However, there is more to the Falls than the above ground rush of thousands of gallons of water. You can also see how the Falls affect the world below ground. Here is how you can tour the Cave of the Winds found below Niagara Falls.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Choose the tour that works best for you. Most of the Cave of the Wind tours start on the Maid of the Mist boat ride. Your options range from a two to ten hour boat ride. You can also choose a night or daytime trip.
Step2
Book your trip ahead of time. The Cave of the Winds tour takes you on a walk behind Bridal Veil Falls. You'll get a hooded rain coat and a true behind the scenes view of Niagara. You can book ahead by calling your travel agent or finding a booking agent online.
Step3
Go to Goat Island, New York, to book your place on the Cave of the Winds tour. You can get to Goat Island by driving, or you can take the pedestrian bridge that starts at American Falls. The Cave of the Winds tour will start on Goat Island.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you have a passport, if you need it. Some tours will take you to the Canadian side of the river. If you do not have a passport, make sure you choose a tour that keeps you on the American side of Niagara Falls.
  • Be sure to wear comfortable shoes that have good traction and that you don't mind if they get wet. You will be walking on slippery rocks, and you will get the occasional splash of water.
