How to Buy Studded Tires

Luckily, most driving conditions don't require something as severe as studded tires, but when the conditions call for them having the proper tires could be a life saver. Studded tires are designed to drive on ice and snow and because of the metal posts they have more grip on the ice than regular tires.

Instructions

    • 1

Be sure that you need studded tires, as they restricted in some regions.

    • 2

Consult a tire specialist if you think that you need studded tires. The specialist will help you pick the tires that you need for the driving conditions that you will encounter.

    • 3

Verify that the studded tires you select are compatible with the car that you are buying them for. Not all tires work on all cars.

    • 4

Buy the appropriate number of tires. Knowing the laws regarding studded tires is beneficial when buying the tires. Some laws require that all four wheels be studded tires when installing them for use on the front wheels. If you're installing them for use on a rear wheel drive car, you may only need two studded tires.
