“Total Request Live," or TRL, is one of the most popular shows on MTV. TRL, in its most basic form, is a countdown of music videos, but the show is actually comprised of much more, such as celebrity interviews and fan interaction. There are several different ways that you can get on TRL.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Step1
Watch the show. This is the easiest way to find the current methods of viewer interaction. The focus of TRL's viewer involvement changes from calling, to email, to webcam videos and more, so the easiest way to know how to get involved is to keep up with the current TRL trend.
Step2
Check the website. The TRL section of the MTV website (see Resources below) will also give you information on how you can currently get involved. There is a casting call section on the MTV website that has information for getting on different MTV shows, including TRL. Check this section often if you want to get on TRL to see which method best suits you.
Step3
Reserve your spot in the TRL studio audience. The studio capacity is less than 100 people so you need to reserve a spot early. If you have a specific date that you want to go, you need to book a month or two in advance. Call the TRL hotline at (212) 398-8549 to request a spot on TRL.
Step4
Go to New York City. The MTV studio where they broadcast TRL from is located in Times Square. To get in on the studio audience at TRL, on top of reserving a spot you will have to stand in line and possibly answer a trivia question, depending on demand. You still have a chance of getting on TRL if you are around Times Square, but your odds are drastically reduced if you do not reserve your spot.
Step5
Be sure you meet the age requirements. You must be between the ages of 18 and 24 to be in the TRL studio audience.
