1
Keep white wine close by when you are serving red wine. Pour white wine directly on a red wine spill as soon as possible. Blot the wine with paper towels. Repeat as necessary.
-
2
Drape the stained tablecloth or napkin over the sink or a large bowl. Pour club soda through the stain. Pre-treat the area and launder as usual.
-
-
3
Cover a fresh red wine stain with table salt. Work the salt into the fabric. The mildly abrasive quality of the salt will help work the stain out of the fibers. Flush the area with club soda and blot.
-
4
Make a paste of non-chlorine soap powder and a little water. Apply to the red wine stain and let sit for five to ten minutes. Launder the tablecloth as usual.
-
5
Soak stubborn stains overnight in the washer in a solution of cool water and non-chlorine oxygenated laundry product. The next day, put the tablecloth and the solution through the laundry cycle as usual.
