Although the U.S. Open tickets are less difficult to buy than Masters tickets, it still requires a little homework to obtain the tickets. The Professional Golf Association holds the U.S. Open annually, changing its location each year as well. Plan ahead and soon enough you will be seeing the U.S. Open live in person. The following will help you in your efforts in finding tickets.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • USGA membership
  • Application

Step1
Open a membership with the USGA. Some memberships are as low as $15. The lottery applications for USGA members is held between March and April. This is much earlier then the lottery tickets open to the general public.
Step2
Partake in the general public spectator lottery system that accepts applications mid-June to mid-August. You will find the application at usga.org/tickets.
Step3
Call a ticket agency or broker if you were not chosen for either of the member or general public lotteries. These typically open immediately after the lottery drawings.
Step4
Look at auction sites for the more difficult tickets.

Tips & Warnings

  • Sometimes a broker may be cheaper then the lottery system when buying practice tickets. They often get tickets below cost.
  • Be cautious if you purchase scalped tickets. Know the laws and risks involved in the state where you plan to buy the scalped U.S. Open tickets.
  • Auction sites are most likely going to be very costly. Supply and demand shove those prices up.
