How to Plan a Menu for a Mad Hatter Tea Party

Kids of all ages, as well as those who love classic literature, can enjoy a Mad Hatter tea party straight out of the Alice in Wonderland story. The menu for such a party should be as fun, creative and crazy as decorations and costumes that one would have.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Start with tea naturally. Make as many different flavors of tea as you can find such as Earl Grey, Jasmine, Darjeeling, English Breakfast, Ceylon and Orange Pekoe. Find a variety of different teapots to serve the tea in.
Step2
Make a hat cake. Start by baking a two-tier round cake. Add icing and sugar flowers and make a bow with licorice strings.
Step3
Serve tarts, preferably in the shape of hearts. Even though these were associated with the Queen of Hearts and not the Mad Hatter, it will still add to the Alice in Wonderland theme.
Step4
Serve toast with butter. For more fun, try to make a butter dish from an old watch frame (since the March Hare tried to fix the Hatter's watch with butter). Use jam or jelly sparingly--after all, "jam yesterday and jam tomorrow, but not jam today."
Step5
Make cookies in Wonderland shapes. Cats, rabbits, top hats, and card symbols are all fun shapes to try out. Write the words "eat me" on them in frosting.
Step6
Add other finger foods, such as sandwiches. Try cutting them into the same funny shapes as well.
