A cotillion is a milestone marker in a child's life. It is a special day when the child shows his parents that he is mature and can act gentlemanly or ladylike when the event calls for it. The location will reinforce how serious the event is and must be chosen with care and accessibility. Everyone can reach this milestone and everyone can find a location for a cotillion.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Consider locations in close proximity to the students. The cotillion is comprised of several classes and the final dinner and dance with the parents. The location needs to be accessible to all areas of the community. If there are several students that live south of the river and several that live north of the river, for instance, hold practices on each side of the river. Divide the group in two and travel to the location instead of the kids.
Step2
Determine your budget. The pinnacle of the event is the final dinner and dance, so the lessons do not need to be located in a 5-star hotel. The budget will dictate what you can and cannot afford. Put your money to work for you. Plan to spend more money on the final dinner and less on the lesson's location.
Step3
Visit several possible locations. You should take a check list with you of the features you need out of a location. Measure the room. Find out if sound equipment is available. Determine if there is a place for parents to wait, whether it's in a safe area, and if it easy to find. Make a check list, take a photo and go home and evaluate the list.
Step4
Check the YMCA, church halls, community centers, inexpensive hotels and other reception-type locations. Many locations will give you a discount for your repeat business. Ask the manager about any possible discounts or bartering that is available to save yourself some extra money.
