How to Ensure Your Marketing Campaign is a Success

It almost seems sometimes as if businesses forget the two key active terms of marketing, “Why” and “How”. Too often, the marketing manager sitting in his/her new shiny office with a side window view is more focused on the passive ego-driven marketing terms, “What” and “Whoa”. Below are my five easy steps to ensuring your marketing campaign is actively driving towards success...

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
1. Determine your key metrics of success and results desired. These probably are tied to your performance goals or your boss’s bonus. Either way, you always know “why” you have to do this new campaign, you have to show action and progress.
Step2
2. Let go of your ego. Stop trying to be an expert of all and admit you need help. Imagine, being able to sleep at night again.
Step3
3. Outline your creative ideas, mandatory elements and possible researched trends. We are not talking about a thesis here, this is not an exercise in control tactics, it simply is a necessity for the proper transfer of knowledge to your team.
Step4
4. Select a partner/professional who is skilled but most importantly who you would enjoy spending time with to create a powerful campaign. Beware if the person/team is too pleasing and agreeable, this may mean they are eager (read desperate) for business and inexperience could prevail.
Step5
5. Let the partner guide you through milestones, deliverables and creative concepts so you are involved in the entire process. A successful marketing campaign is not only powerful results; it is fluid communication, humour (essential!), sensitivity, reality and creativity all jumbled together to create a fantastic memory.
