How to Dry Herbs

A very easy and inexpensive way to dry fresh herbs

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh herbs
  • Sewing thread
  • Mason jars
  • An attic or garage with open rafters
  1. Step 1

    Pick fresh herbs from your herb garden.

  2. Step 2

    Use a manageable size group of herbs. Usually three to five sprigs.

  3. Step 3

    Using a three to four foot length of thread hang the herbs upside down from the rafters.

  4. Step 4

    Allow to dry until crumbly to the touch.

  5. Step 5

    After completely dry store in jars until needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do not have your own garden fresh herbs may be purchased at the local market.
  • Make sure the herbs are not subjected to wind.
