Here is a quick and easy way to find out the BPM of a song

• Stopwatch

1. Time how long (as exact as possible) it takes for the song to complete 32 beats, keep this time showing.

2. Take out your calculator, and divide 32 by how long it took the song to complete 32 beats.

3. Multiply his number by 60

4. The answer is the BPM of that song

• Try be exact as possible
• A DJ could sort his records on a night out by BPM, which makes it quick to find a song with a similar BPM to the record playing
• Always use a stopwatch to count. If you count in your head, you will count to the beat, not in seconds
