How to Break in New Shoes

Shoes are a girl's best friend! New Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin shoes are gorgeous enough to display in a museum but what fun is that? Unfortunately, everyone has to go through the painful "breaking-in" process full of blisters and Band-aids before shoes become comfortable. However, these few tips may help you break-in your new shoes and strut down the street with style, comfort and ease.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • New shoes
  • Mole skin (sold at any drugstore, usually in the same aisle as Dr. Scholl's foot-care products)
  • Scissors
  • Pair of socks (the thicker the better)

    Break In New Shoes

  1. Step 1

    Put on your new shoes and walk around the house. Even walk up a flight of stairs if applicable. Take note of the "problem areas" of your feet that hurt or may blister.

  2. Step 2

    Cut strips of mole skin and stick it on the problem areas of your shoe. Make sure you use large strips as smaller strips fall off through use.

  3. Step 3

    Put on your socks and wear the shoes around the house for at least three to five days for at least 15 to 30 minutes at a time. Repeat this "stretching-out" process until your shoes are comfortable to wear as you normally would.

  • A well broken-in shoe will conform to the particulars of the way you walk.  Clearly I have issues, but man are these shoes comfortable.
