Not your average bath salt recipe.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dead Sea salt: fine or course.
  • good quality fragrance oil.
  • sturdy container
  • food colorant or mica.
  • soluable dextrose
  • mixing bowl
  • spoon
  • scale
  • measuring spoons
  • labels
  1. Step 1

First step in the most important step, make sure you order all of your ingredients. I have used several suppliers such as Alabastercandlesupply.com and naturesgarden.com. You can get just about all you need to make great Bath salts from these companies. Once you receive your items, inspect them, what we call quality control. Get your invoice and check to see if you have everything you ordered. Make sure you have the right count and nothing is broken. Was all utensils and containers, let them dry completely.

  2. Step 2

Line your counter or table with paper, and separate you containers from their lids so it will be easy to fill once you mix the salt. Pour 1 pound of course Dead Sea salt into a large bowl. You can mix fine with course salts. Add a tablespoon of soluble dextrose to your mixture. This helps to retain the fragrance in your salts, you can omit this if you choose. Add four drops of food colorant to the top, and 1-2 oz. of fragrance oil or essential oil.

  3. Step 3

Mix very well. Make sure all of the color is evenly distributed throughout the mixture. You do not want clumps of color here and there. Start to fill your containers almost to the top, leave room for some movement. You can use a funnel for tight openings. Make sure you clean off the edges and label properly with all ingredients and fragrance choice.

Tips & Warnings
  • Bath salts have wonderful relaxing capabilities, give them as gifts, giveaways, or shower gifts. You can find packaging anywhere, try your local dollar store, look for unique out of the ordinary packaging.
  • Make sure you have a warning on your label not to use on an open wound or broken skin, it will sting.
