Learning the Highway Code is essential and compulsory if you want to drive. Knowing everything possible about road signs and what to do in certain situations etc, will all be covered and it will prove vital when you are driving on the road. These rules are there to be met and if disobeyed then this is illegal and it can result in the law intervening. You will also not pass your theory and practical driving test without learning it, so to make things easier for yourself, try and follow some of these simple steps.

  1. Step 1

    You should start by getting your provisional drivers license as you will need it to start driving. Once you have this you can then proceed to the next step.

  2. Step 2

    Now you have your provisional, before you have any lessons you may want to start learning the Highway Code. This means that you should buy the Highway Code book. There are quite a few that you can purchase and they are relatively easy to get hold of; whether from a retailer or from the internet.

  3. Step 3

    Do not rush your learning because you will need all of this knowledge on the road in order to be able to drive properly. You may be eager to want to do your test, but if you rush it, you may not have enough knowledge and you will have to retake your test which generally means more expense.

  4. Step 4

    Try and break each section down and make sure that you learn it properly. You may want to get someone to keep testing you and also it is a good idea to make notes.

  5. Step 5

    Make sure that when you learn each section of the Highway Code that you try and apply some of it when you are learning to drive. Take a look at road signs and other things on the road in order to get an idea of your surroundings.

  • Take your time learning the Highway Code because it is something that can help to keep you and others safe whilst you are out on the road.
  • If you do not bother to learn the Highway Code, you will not pass your driving test.
