Use the photos you have on Flickr on your own web pages. Flickr gives you the HTML for a photo and a link back to your Flickr account. Linking the images is easy, just follow these steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A Flickr account
  • A blog or website of your own
  • A browser

Decide which photo you want to use

Step1
Locate the photo you want to use in your Flickr photos. Click on it to see the photo on its own page.
Step2
Above the photo, you see a link that says "All Sizes." (See the image at the beginning of the article. The arrow points out the all sizes link.)
Step3
Select one of the available sizes Click the "All Sizes" link. That takes you to a page where you select the size you'll use on your web page. Click to select the size you want.
Step4
The HTML is provided to paste the image on a blog or web page. Scroll down the page. Under the image you see a box with the HTML you need to paste into your blog or web page.
Step5
Copy all the HTML provided by Flickr. This includes a link to your photo and a link back to your Flickr page where the original photo is located.
Step6
Paste the copied HTML into your blog or web page in the location where you want the image to appear. Save. Either publish the blog or upload the web page.

Tips & Warnings

  • Decide in advance how much space you have available on the blog or web page where you want to use the photo. Then you can quickly pick from the available sizes.
  • Flickr automatically assigned the image title as the alt text. To change that, find the alt="your image title" part of the HTML and change the words between the quotation marks to better describe the image.
  • If you want to use anyone else's photos from Flickr, you should ask permission. You can find an "All Sizes" link for someone else's photos, but Flickr won't give you the HTML to link to it.
  • Flickr's Terms of Service state that you must link back to Flickr when using a photo from Flickr. Even though they offer you the URL directly to the image (see the image in Step 4), you are expected to use the HTML that includes the link back to Flickr and not to link directly to the image.
