The Delaware State Police Department has expanded to include an anti-terrorist division now that a higher level of security is being observed throughout the country. This is just one area of expertise required by the State of Delaware to become a state trooper. The steps below will help you on your journey to be a state trooper in Delaware.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Valid drivers license
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 60 college credits from an accredited state college

Step1
Start the application process by contacting a recruiter at (302) 739-5980 to obtain an application. Submit your completed form to Delaware State Police, Human Resources, PO Box 430, Dover, DE 19903.
Step2
Take a written exam that includes but is not limited to reading comprehension, problem solving, reasoning and memorization.
Step3
Pass a physical fitness test that concentrates on endurance, aerobic capacity and strength.
Step4
Communicate ideas and information to others in an oral interview process.
Step5
Pass a polygraph test that will focus on your past driving record, drug use, employment and personal finance.
Step6
Interview with an investigator and allow a background check. An offer for the training academy will follow when all of the above steps have been completed.
