How to Write Poems
With so much going on in today's world, people need outlets to express their innermost feelings. Often, people are not comfortable talking about certain aspects of their life with others and choose to find an alternative way to cope. Writing poetry can be an intimate escape that only you know about. If desired, you can also share your poetry with others or publish it.

1
Consider an event in your life that you may need to ponder. Once you come up with that event, write it down.
-
2
Brainstorm many different words that come to mind when you think of that time or event. Scribble down the words to help you form the poem.
-
-
3
Choose colorful words, similes, metaphors and personification to develop the poem into something more enlightening.
-
4
Begin writing. Poetry does not need to rhyme or be a certain length. Writing poems can help you express your emotions. Find your own voice, and get comfortable writing.
-
5
Look at the poem. Read the poem out loud. Determine if the poem accurately describes how you feel inside.
-
6
Revise your poem, if necessary. Writers can spend weeks or months trying to shape their poems into works that are inspiring and spiritually uplifting.
-
7
Share your poem with family and friends, if you feel comfortable exposing your thoughts and words. By sharing poetry about experiences, writers can make connections with the readers. Consider publishing your poem or poems as well.
