Step 1
Keep the vinyl tile surface clear of spills. Promptly mop away any liquid that gets on the floor. Wipe dry spills with a soft clean cloth. Use a vinyl floor polish to bring back the shine if the tiles dull with the passage of time.
-
Step 2
Clean the tiles with a non-toxic cleaner or a no-rinse cleaning product. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines and use recommended products for your vinyl floor.
-
Step 3
Avoid placing mats with a rubber coated base on vinyl flooring. The rubber leaves marks on the tiles that are hard to remove and can cause permanent damage. Also use colorfast rugs and mats.
-
Step 4
Prevent exposure to direct sunlight. Excessive sunlight causes tile discoloration and undue expansion. Use drapes or blinds to keep the sunlight at a low level.
-
Step 5
Abstain from walking with high heels on vinyl floors. High heels can indent the tile surface. Also avoid lighting matches and cigarettes near the floor to prevent scorch marks and burns.
-
Step 6
Place plywood panels on the vinyl floor when you move furniture. This prevents the tiles from getting scratched.
