Things You'll Need:
- Rimmed sink
- Plumber's caulk
- Latex caulk
- Plumbing tools
- Sabersaw
- Drill
-
Step 1
Remove the entire old sink unit. Leave any hardware or plumbing in place if required.
-
Step 2
Clean all previous silicon putty, glue and debris from the area before setting in the new rimmed sink.
-
Step 3
Measure the existing sink opening in the countertop if removing an old sink to determine the fit of the new rimmed sink. If installing a sink in a new countertop, trace around the rimmed sink template provided with the new unit.
-
Step 4
Use a drill to pierce the countertop with a large drill-bit on the inside of the template tracing. Use a saw with a fine-toothed blade, and insert into the drilled hole. Compete the cut by moving the blade to the edge of the template and follow the template line.
-
Step 5
Hook up the faucets and hardware on the new sink before lowering into hole.
-
Step 6
Run a bead of plumber's caulk or putty around the rimmed sink's basin outlet, and install any other hardware including the included flange assembly.
-
Step 7
Apply a generous amount of silicone caulk around the bottom of the rimmed sink where it will make contact with the countertop. Lower sink into hole and firmly press down until caulk begins to push out from underneath the sink. Remove excess caulk. Run a bead of latex caulk around the bottom edge of the new sink approximately 2 hours after setting the unit in place.
