Things You'll Need:
- Vinegar
- Small bowl
- Reclosable plastic baggie
- Commercial mineral deposit cleaner
- Washcloth
- Wrench
-
Step 1
Turn off the water at the faucet.
-
Step 2
Pour vinegar into a small bowl, get into the shower and submerge the showerhead in it. Hold it for a minute or two and then use a toothbrush to clean out the holes. This will get rid of light mineral deposits.
-
Step 3
Fill a reclosable baggie with a solution of equal parts vinegar and water. Secure it to the showerhead with tape, making sure the showerhead is submerged in the solution. Leave it on overnight if you have stubborn deposits.
-
Step 4
Remove the baggie and brush out the holes with a toothbrush.
-
Step 5
Stick a large needle into each of the showerhead holes to clean and open them further.
-
Step 6
Purchase a commercial mineral deposit cleaner for another choice. You can use the cleaner instead of vinegar in the above steps. Some cleaners come with showerhead-cleaning instructions on them.
-
Step 7
Remove your showerhead with a wrench and soak it in a vinegar/water mixture over night if the above steps don't work. The deposits might be too thick inside the head. First wrap a washcloth around your showerhead so your wrench won't scratch it.
