How to Maintain Makeup in Hot Weather

Makeup can be tricky to maintain in hot weather. Extreme temperatures and unrelenting humidity can make people feel as though their makeup is literally sliding off of their faces. Fortunately, there are a few beauty tips to help you maintain makeup in hot weather.

1. Choose a light moisturizer (one with SPF protection). Use it sparingly, concentrating only on places that are really dry. Avoid areas of the face that tend to get especially oily. For many people, this includes the nose and forehead.

2. Find a lightweight foundation. Heavy matte foundations usually have the most trouble holding up in the heat. Use enough to provide adequate coverage, but no more. Oil-control formulas may be useful.

3. Resist the temptation to go overboard with the powder. It will most likely mix with the combination of foundation, oil and sweat to create a caked-on look. A normal dusting will hold up better.

4. Carry a pack of oil-absorbing face sheets with you. They absorb facial oils and do a great job of diminishing shiny spots without messing up your makeup. This will do much better for eliminating shine than applying coat after coat of powder.

5. Steer clear of thick, heavy products and dark colors. Opt instead for light, tinted lip glosses and shimmery pastels or metallics for eyes. Loose eye-shadow, applied with a brush, works very well, and allows more control over the amounts applied.
