Losing weight on a grapefruit diet is easy to do. While most people in the dieting field consider the grapefruit diet a fad diet, it does have some benefits. The grapefruit diet is a diet that should be followed for no more than 21 days unless you get permission from your doctor.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Purchase the grapefruits. The most important item in a grapefruit diet is obviously grapefruit. When following the grapefruit diet, consume half of a grapefruit at each meal. With that in mind, be sure to purchase enough of the fruit to sustain the diet for the time you wish to remain on the plan. Instead of going to your local grocery market, you can opt to buy your grapefruit online at a website such as Al's Family Farm.

  2. Step 2

Learn which types of foods are not allowed on the grapefruit diet. The main types of foods that aren't allowed are foods that contain carbs or excess starch or sugar. Eliminate these foods from your diet and stick to vegetables and meat that have a low number of carbs per serving.

  3. Step 3

Eat until you are full. The main part of the grapefruit diet is to eat three meals a day and not stop eating until you feel completely full. You also shouldn't snack between meals. Keep your daily food intake to three solid meals per day.

  4. Step 4

Remember the grapefruit. At the end of each meal, eat half of a grapefruit. Proponents of the grapefruit diet contend that the grapefruit helps burn the fat that is eaten in each meal. Each day, you should end up consuming one and a half grapefruits.

  5. Step 5

Drink eight glasses of water and get 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise per day. If you follow this regime, you should be losing weight in no time with the grapefruit diet.
