How to Be a Female Bodybuilder
Deciding to be a female bodybuilder takes courage and dedication in this era of waif-thin models. But developing your muscles and strength can be more rewarding than striving to be ultraskinny. Follow these steps to become a female bodybuilder, because there are people out there who appreciate the muscular look, too.

1
Rid yourself of cultural stereotypes of women's beauty. If you want to be a female bodybuilder, you're going to be muscular, not thin. Though you won't match the predominate view of beauty, know that you are beautiful.
-
2
Define your goals. Some female bodybuilders aim to develop ripped muscles and create bulk, while others want smaller, well-developed muscles. Decide what look you're going for and whether you're just interested in personal bodybuilding or you want to compete.
-
-
3
Get in relatively good shape, because you must be fit to start bodybuilder training. Participate in a basic cardio program and strength training at the gym.
-
4
Hire a personal trainer to help with bodybuilder training. If you belong to a gym, ask if there are any trainers that specialize in training female bodybuilders. If not, call different gyms in your area to locate a trainer who can build a program to meet your needs.
-
5
Eat six to eight small meals a day, focusing on good carbohydrates, lean protein and fruits and vegetables to make the most of your bodybuilder training. Supplements can help you meet your food goals, but they aren't a replacement for a healthy diet.
-
6
Develop and change your training as you go along. If you don't vary your training program, your body gets used to the workout, and you stop seeing results. Ask your trainer for variation ideas.
-
7
Enter a female bodybuilder competition when you feel ready or pose for some photos to document your progress.

Tips & Warnings
Since women don't have the testosterone levels of men, they don't get especially bulky muscles. You can develop muscle mass with a lot of training, though, if that's the look you're going for.
You should start seeing results within 2 weeks of hiring a personal trainer, but they won't be dramatic. Have patience, and you'll see major changes in your body.
