You've done the legwork to start a leaf-raking company and now it's time to let people know you're in business. Learn how to market your business effectively and you'll spend most of the fall outdoors raking in the profits.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Place an ad in the local paper. Include your business name, contact information and list of services. Ask the paper for a proof before the ad runs so you can correct any errors.

  2. Step 2

Make eye-catching flyers and hang them around town. Grocery and hardware stores are good options. Place the flyers near the door or in other high traffic areas. As the business for permission before posting flyers.

  3. Step 3

Go door-to-door. Look for yards that need to be raked and ring the doorbell. If nobody is home, hang a flyer on the front door. You're sure to catch a few people who don't have time to keep up on yard work.

  4. Step 4

Look for referrals. Ask all steady clients who really like your work to talk to their friends and family about your leaf-raking business. They may be able to help you find new customers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Decide what to do with the leaves that you've raked. If you don't plan to dispose of the leaves, consider using them for mulch or animal bedding. Use this as a selling point to attract new clients.
  • Don't put your leaf-raking business flyers in mailboxes. It's illegal to place items in a mailbox without postage.
