Step 1
Start early in the season. The most striking spring picture opportunities come when the first flowers bloom out of a still somewhat desolate landscape. Early spring is also when most trees are in full bloom.
-
Step 2
Look for wildlife early in the spring. Because temperatures are cooler, animals and insects are generally less active. This will make them easier to take pictures of.
-
Step 3
Check out the calendar section of your local newspaper for upcoming events later in the spring. Many outdoor events and festivals are planned for mild-weathered spring weekends.
-
Step 4
Wait patiently by flowers for butterflies and bees. A picture of a butterfly sitting on a flower is the quintessential spring picture. For the best results, set up a tripod, stand still and try to avoid making noise.
-
Step 5
Take pictures of bright spring color in the late afternoon or around dusk. Bright sunlight can make bright colors look neon. Pictures taken around dusk are warmer and less harsh. If the sun is behind your subject at dusk, use the flash to bring your subject out from the shadows.
