How to Be Delirious

Most everyone has referred to themselves as delirious at one time or another. It's a peculiar state of mind, a reaction to various stress factors. It's generally not a state one chooses to reach deliberately, but here are a few of the ways that one can achieve delirium.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Remain awake for long periods. After about 24 hours or so without sleep, most people enter a kind of delirious stage. Everything becomes funnier, lights seem brighter, moving things take on an air of animation. The longer you stay awake, the more delirious you are likely to feel.
Step2
Catch a fever of some sort. It is not uncommon for people to enter a state of delirium when in the clutches of a high fever. Note that a high fever will most likely be accompanied by various other manifestations of illness.
Step3
Undergo surgery. Some people who go under the knife can enter a state of delirium as a reaction to anesthesia. This state often comes as the patient is coming out of the anesthesia and usually lasts only a short time.
Step4
Try to obtain the ultimate sugar/caffeine rush. This may only generate an advanced state of hyperactivity, but it could teeter on the edge of delirium. Consuming high-powered energy drinks is an option.
Step5
Watch several hours of stand-up comedy. Unrelenting laughter to the point of tears and an aching stomach is likely to generate a certain feeling of delirium.

Tips & Warnings

  • It must be pointed out that, with the exception of watching stand-up comedy, none of these methods are advised; all pose obvious health risks. As mentioned before, a state of delirium is usually not one that is reached deliberately. You should read these steps with a mountain-sized grain of salt.
