Ultimate Texas Hold'em is a casino-style game based on traditional Texas Hold'em. The difference is that you're only competing against the dealer, not the other players. There are 3 rounds of betting after the initial ante and a chance to make serious money. To learn how to play Ultimate Texas Hold'em, follow these steps.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find the betting spots. The felt on the playing table contains several different spots to make bets. To play, you must make an equal ante and blind bet. You can also make an optional trips bet, which will pay you a multiplier on certain hands.

  2. Step 2

Look at the 2 cards dealt to you. If you have the makings of a winning hand, you can bet 4 times your ante. If you don't, you can check to see the flop.

  3. Step 3

Watch the dealer turn over the flop. These are 3 community cards used by each player. If you have made a possible winning hand and you haven't already bet, you can bet 2 times the ante. If you haven't made a hand, you can check again to see the final 2 cards.

  4. Step 4

See the dealer reveal the final 2 cards. If you haven't already bet, you can wager a bet equal to your ante, or check again.

  5. Step 5

Wait for the dealer to reveal his cards to see if you have won. If your hand is better, you win the blind, the ante and the initial bet. If your hand is not better, you lose all of your bets.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember, you won't know the dealer's cards until after all of the community cards are shown and the betting is completed.
  • Play wisely. Don't overbet a small pair. It's free to check. So wait for a good card and save yourself some money.

on 10/15/2009 uth-junkie: a draw has more value with higher cards, which may win as kickers if you miss. Also, you may need a high(er) pair to win. If you have a specific hand, comment on discountgamlbing.net on the UTH page, I'll answer there.

on 10/6/2009 You should never bet 2x on a flush or straight draw if your best hole card is 10 or less. Why? When your payout for those hands if you hit it will pay odds on your tripps bet. The key to winning in this game is to get as many 4X bets as you can and take those risks. Checking and waiting will only result in pushes and loses. You need to stack up 4X if you want to cover your Tripps and make money for the hand.

on 9/29/2009 I've generated a basic strategy table for Ultimate Texas Hold'em that you can print out and take to the casino. It shows when to check small pairs, and when to bet draws and kickers. It's very, very close to optimal decisions.
