Road trips can seem long and tedious, especially to a child. Car games are a great way to break the monotony and generate family interaction. During your next car trip, consider playing a few rounds of road trip bingo. It's a game that gets everyone in the vehicle involved and generates awareness of new landscapes and territories. Here is how to play road trip bingo.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Gather information about the route between your destinations. This will give you a better idea of what to encourage passengers to look for. Look for special landmarks or roadside shops and attractions.
Step2
Create a series of bingo cards using construction paper, poster board, or whatever you have handy that will travel well.
Step3
Put objects and landmarks in the squares instead of numbers. For example: road signs, animals, specific gas stations, city names and many others.
Step4
Give a card to each player at the start of the journey. Explain to them that they should look sharp for all of the items on their card. The first one to get a BINGO is the winner.
Step5
Try offering small prizes for the winners to keep them interested in the game. This can be anything from a special snack to complete control of the radio/CD player for an allotted period.

Tips & Warnings

  • Encourage your children to get involved in the preparation process. Ask them about things they hope to see while traveling. Put those things on the bingo cards.
