How to Not Fall While Playing Broomball

Broomball is a game in which the players use a broom-like stick to power a ball into the opponent's goal. The game is played on ice with regular shoes. Spikes are not allowed and the shoes should be clean. The best way to play the game is on your feet, so here is how not to fall while playing broomball.

Instructions

1. Choose indoor or outdoor shoes with good traction. There are shoes made for winter weather and there are tennis shoes that have more traction. Choose one of these. The bottom should have deep grooves. Choose the ones that look like a spider web to keep control in all directions and not the traction that keeps you from sliding right to left or front to back.

2. Wear Broomball shoes. Broomball shoes can be purchased online or through a hockey supply store. The shoes are specially designed to be worn on ice and flexible for what you are doing. The traction is also superb. The shoes range in price from $60 to $100.

3. Get your balance. Practice getting your center of balance which should be straight down slightly in front of your feet. To do this, stand with your feet twice your shoulder width. Bend at the knees and face your toes straight forward. Arch your back and lean over like you are waiting for a child to run into your arms. Don't lean too far. Use the broomball stick to balance.

4. Go on the ice several times a week with the shoes and practice to keep your balance. Get a part-time job at the rink. Operating the Zamboni is always fun and you get an excuse to walk around on the ice without skates on.
