How to Create Unusual Packaging for Christmas Gifts

Contributor
By eHow Contributing Writer

Year after year, rolls of holiday wrapping paper turn into piles of trash on your living room floor. To diminish the pile and save a few trees, create unusual packaging for your Christmas gifts this year.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wrap an odd-shaped gift in bubble wrap secured with glue or tape. Paint the wrap to make it festive and garnish with a ribbon.

  2. Step 2

Make the gift part of the presentation. Use a hair scarf or neck tie as a ribbon.

  3. Step 3

Tie fabric around a box or package for a wrapping material that you don't have to throw away later.

  4. Step 4

Wrap a package in old sections of a newspaper. Let the kids paint creative holiday designs onto the paper.

  5. Step 5

Place your gifts in quality, decorative holiday boxes and reuse them from year to year.

  6. Step 6

Paint a shoe box or decorate it with stickers and embellishments. Rather than sticking with a holiday theme, decorate it to reflect the recipient's personality.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're not feeling creative and must stick to wrapping paper, choose recycled paper for your gift-giving.
