How to Date the Nice Guy

You've heard the saying "Nice guys finish last." It seems that although women imply they want to find a nice guy, they continue to date the ones who aren't--they go for the guys who use and hurt them. The "Nice Guy" description usually relates to a guy's experience and attitude toward women, which is much different from the bad guys. Date the nice guy and learn how you should be treated by a man.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Let go of the "nice guy" complex. It insinuates that although nice, these men are somehow inferior due to being less aggressive, outgoing and outwardly confident. Women who've found these guys know that they are worth getting to know.

  2. Step 2

Be comfortable approaching a nice guy in order to get to know him. He won't necessarily be the outgoing one, full of robotic pick-up lines he's conjured up especially for you. Though a bit reclusive, he's likely a very down-to-earth person hoping to find someone real, just like you are.

  3. Step 3

Realize that nice guys can sometimes have low self-esteem when it comes to women because they aren't aggressive, and may not have much dating experience for this reason. You'll need to let the nice guy know that you admire his intentions and willingness to be himself.

  4. Step 4

Draw him out of his shell. Use eye contact and body language to make him comfortable, asking questions to initially get to know him as a friend. He'll see and appreciate your genuine side. He may be uncomfortable at first, but if he's interested, he should slowly open up.

  5. Step 5

Gauge his responses to your questions to evaluate his interest level. Does he seem enthusiastic to talk to you? Does he reciprocate questions? Does he seem happy to see you after you've been separated?

  6. Step 6

Encourage him to be straightforward and honest with you--saying what he feels and means, not saying what he thinks you want to hear.
