Holiday traditions abound and are a great way to bring your family together. Whether you already have holiday traditions that you've been doing for years and are looking for a new spin on an old favorite, or if want to make new ones, here are a few ideas to help you get started.

From Quick Guide: Family Traditions
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make a list of the holiday traditions you already have. Write down each holiday, and each of the traditions observed by your family. Ask yourself what traditions your family enjoys the most, and try to bring that same amount of fun to the new traditions you want to create.

  2. Step 2

Get the kids involved. Ask other members of the family to write down their favorite holiday traditions and why they like them so much. Ask them for input on what new traditions they want to try this next year.

  3. Step 3

Get creative. Pick two or three new things that your family can do this year together. Ask friends or go online for inspiration on new traditions you can make for your family this year. Choose things that get everyone involved by finding an event that has something for everyone.

  4. Step 4

Go for it. Once you have decided what new thing you would like to try this year, give it a shot, and see how much fun everyone is having. If it is a great success, and you can foresee your family enjoying it for years to come, then you have a new tradition. However, if for some reason your new idea falls flat, choose a different holiday tradition to try next year. Your new holiday tradition could actually be trying something different every year.
