How to Make Marshmallow Popcorn Christmas Trees

If you're looking for a fun activity for kids over the Christmas holidays, consider making marshmallow popcorn Christmas trees. Children love making and decorating these delicious homemade Christmas treats, which make fun and tasty gifts for teachers and neighbors.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Popcorn
  • Margarine
  • Green Jell-O
  • Green food coloring
  • Candy in different colors
  • Jellyroll pan
  • Miniature marshmallows
  1. Step 1

    Make 12 cups of popcorn. Spread the popcorn evenly in a jellyroll pan.

  2. Step 2

    Combine 1 cup of margarine and 3 cups of marshmallows in a medium saucepan and heat until melted.

  3. Step 3

    Add 1/2 package of lime-flavored Jell-O to your melted marshmallows and cook it until the Jell-O completely dissolves.

  4. Step 4

    Add green food coloring until you achieve the desired color for your tree. Mix in the food coloring quickly and evenly.

  5. Step 5

    Pour the mixture over the popcorn evenly. Stir the popcorn until it is coated and all pieces appear green.

  6. Step 6

    Dampen your hands and then shape the popcorn into the shape of a Christmas tree.

  7. Step 7

    Complete your tree by decorating it with colored candies such as red hots, M&M's, colored sprinkles, snow caps and Reese's Pieces.

Tips & Warnings
  • When giving the marshmallow popcorn Christmas tree as a gift, wrap it in colored cellophane and tie it at the top. Attach a small note to your tree.
