How to Exercise During Your Lunch Break

Finding the time to exercise regularly may seem nearly impossible to the person with a busy schedule. Carving out time either before or after work just may not be feasible. But, that doesn't mean that you can't find time to exercise. Read on to learn how to exercise during your lunch break.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Walk. Find a route near your workplace to walk for 20 to 30 minutes each day. Start off by walking slowly in order to warm up and stretch your muscles. By the end of your walk, you should be perspiring and your heart rate should be up.
Step2
Stretch. If the weather is inclement or you just don't have enough time to get outside, stretch your muscles in your office. Do toe touches. Do 10 reps, break and repeat. Do windmill swings with your arms. Do 10 reps, break and repeat. Stretch by doing lunges. Hold lunge for 15 seconds. Switch to the other leg and hold. Do the same thing again with both legs.
Step3
Eat. While you are walking or doing other exercises, eat an energy bar or drink a nutrient shake. It is important that even though you are taking your lunch break to exercise that you don't skip your meal.
Step4
Take an aerobics class. Often, lunchtime aerobics classes are available. If it doesn't end in time to get back to shower and get back to work, cut class early.
Step5
Swim. If you work near the pool, take 30 minutes during your lunch break to swim laps. This is one of the best exercises for your health.
Step6
Do yoga stretches. While on your lunch hour, roll out your mat in your office and stretch for 30 minutes. While doing this, relax and forget about the stresses from your day.
Step7
Hydrate yourself. Drink plenty of water during your exercises. Water helps the effects of your efforts.
