When it comes to maternity clothes, you either love them or hate them. Plus-size women often struggle to find clothes that fit properly during this transitional period, and wonder if there is anything out there designed just for them. If you are looking for plus-size maternity clothes to fit your lifestyle, try these simple steps.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy non-maternity items. You can use many regular plus-size clothes throughout your pregnancy, and they are much easier to find. Tops that have empire waists, tie-backs or long bodies are great for covering a growing belly. Pants that sit low on the hips can also fit well into your second or even third trimester.

  2. Step 2

Borrow from friends. If you have a friend or family member who has plus-sized maternity clothes, ask if you can borrow a few items to get you through the last few months of pregnancy. Most maternity clothes are well taken care of, since they are worn for such a short time.

  3. Step 3

Shop at resale shops for plus-size maternity clothes at a fraction of the cost.

  4. Step 4

Look online at your favorite plus-size shops. Many companies offer maternity items online, but not in their stores. Do a bit of research to see if this is true with your favorite stores.

  5. Step 5

Check out the maternity shops. Some maternity shops, such as Motherhood Maternity, carry plus-sized items up to 4x. Be aware that they usually have a better selection online than in the store.
