Read on to learn how to obtain a disabled parking permit in Virginia.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check the qualifying disability conditions defined on the Virginia DMV website to decide if your disability meets the rules for issuance of disability plates or placards.

  2. Step 2

Print the Disabled Parking Placard or License Plate Application Form MED 10 from the Virginia DMV website. Complete the sections pertaining to applicant information, including the selection of disabled parking placards or disability plates. You must also certify that you are disabled at the bottom of the form.

  3. Step 3

Provide your physician or other authorized medical practitioner with the application so that the certification on the back of the form can be completed, including whether the disability is temporary or permanent. The estimated beginning and ending dates of any temporary disability must also be shown.

  4. Step 4

Send the completed application form to the Virginia DMV at the address shown on the form along with a check for any applicable fees. Note that only one disabled parking placard is issued to an individual.
