The healthcare industry is one of America's leading employers of skilled workers, and career prospects are usually very good. Whether you're a nurse, technician or support staff worker, you'll find dozens if not hundreds of job opportunities when you attend a healthcare career fair.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Browse online job postings for positions similar to the ones you'll be seeking when you attend the career fair. Notice what qualifications are required. Take stock of your skill set, and update yours if it doesn't match up to what employers are looking for, keeping in mind that peoples' lives are in your hands when you work in healthcare.
Step2
Create a resume that demonstrates your ongoing commitment to keeping your skills current as well as your employment and education track record. In the healthcare industry, it is also suggested that you include several references who can attest to your professional capability.
Step3
Locate upcoming healthcare career fairs in your area by searching the career fair databases of the web's more prominent career services sites. For example, CareerBuilder.com has a convenient search engine specifically geared towards helping members find job fairs (see Resources below). The prominence of the healthcare industry also makes it easy to locate career fairs by performing simple Internet searches.
Step4
Get a list of employers that will be attending the career fair by contacting the fair's organizing committee. Decide which employers you want to meet with, and research their company or organization beforehand so you can draw on specific knowledge when you meet with their representatives.
Step5
Dress professionally on the day of the career fair. Women should wear suitable business attire, including modest skirts and button-down blouses. Men are advised to dress relatively formally, with a shirt and tie or, at the very least, a button-down, collared shirt and slacks.
Step6
Make sure you leave plenty of time to make your way to all the booths you planned to visit. Instead of waiting in lines, move on to the other employers you want to speak to and come back to the busier booths later.
Step7
Conduct yourself professionally when you meet with prospective employers. It is also a good idea to have a self-introduction planned so that you can efficiently highlight your skills and assets.
Step8
Follow up with everyone you met with. Thank them for their time, and keep your fingers crossed that you'll be asked for an interview!
