Find Jobs in the Aviation Industry
-
1
Start your job search by reviewing your resumé. It should include your most recent employment history as well as your training and license information.
-
2
Submit your resume for jobs even if they have been posted on an aviation job search website for more than a couple of weeks. Many times, aviation employers will take additional time to find the right candidate with the proper training and amount of experience. Often the number of likely candidates dwindles as the posting ages past 60 or more days.
-
-
3
Search for entry level positions in the aviation industry. These positions may include jobs which require heavy lifting, such as baggage handling and freight maintenance.
-
4
Find work as a flight instructor if teaching others to fly appeals to you. Check with your local small airport's flight schools for job openings by calling their human resources department.
-
5
Consider taking on a career in the corporate sector by looking for jobs as a private pilot for a company jet service. You may also find work with charter jet services which provide service to corporate clients on a contract basis.
-
6
Look for jobs serving the public as part of the aviation industry. These can include positions in customer service and ticketing as well as other arenas such as travel agencies.
-
7
Enter a flight attendant job training program with a major airline. Finding jobs as a flight attendant generally begins with industry specific training, which is often provided by the airline you intend to work for.
-
8
Consider a career on the ground in the aviation industry which will also tap into your other skills such as food handling or airline marketing logistics.
-
9
Consider working for the government as part of the FAA, or Federal Aviation Administration. You will find positions in air traffic control as well as other aspects of the aviation industry through the FAA website (see Resources below).
