How to Hang Pictures Creatively From Your Ceiling

This is an idea I thought of when I saw the big pile of pictures I had of my kids and didn't have any frames to put them in. I wanted to put them in their room where they couldn't mess with them so I decided to hang them from their ceiling. "Crazy" I thought at first, but then I thought "Creative"! Very simple way of being able to see a lot of pictures without using up a lot of space. Hope you all enjoy this idea as much as I did.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 small nail
  • Clear tape
  • Scissors
  • 4-8 pictures
  • Black or white thread, about 10 ft long
  • Hammer

Step1
Prepare your pieces of clear tape, cut about 1 inch long & hang them off something close enough for you to be able to reach for them, at least at arms length. You will need 4 pieces of tape for each picture.
Step2
Then select 8-10 of your favorite pictures. You might even have a theme for your project such as, Holiday, Birthday, Funny, Family, Vacation, Baby, etc.
Step3
Place 4-5 pictures face down, one under the other (on bottom) making sure pictures are evenly spaced out, about 1 1/2 inches.
Step4
Then take your thread & fold it in half, the thread should now be about 5 feet long. Tie a knot at one end leaving a little loop big enough to hang the nail from. Make sure to put nail through your loop at the top & tie a knot close enough for nail not to slip out with weight of pictures.
Step5
Lay thread over pictures, making sure thread lays in the middle of the picture. Tape down thread to the picture using 2 pieces of tape, 1 close to the top of the picture & the other just near the end.
Step6
Before placing the other picture on top, face up. Take another 2 pieces of tape & place them under the thread, in the same way you placed the other pieces (one right under the top piece of tape & the other right under the bottom) sticky side up to tape the pictures together. Firmly press down on top picture to make sure it stays stuck to the other.
Step7
After taping the first 2 pictures to each other & to thread, tie at least 2 small knots right at bottom of picture so that when you hang it with all the pictures, the weight of the pictures won't make the pictures slide down. You might even want to wrap a little piece of tape to knots.
Step8
Repeat steps 5-7 for remaining pictures.
Step9
When you are all done, simply cut off excess thread, at least 1/2 inch from last picture. Find a spot close to the corner of the wall, about 5-6 inches away from the corner & hammer in nail (don't hammer nail in all the way, this makes it easy to take out nail when you want to change the pictures). Now sit back & enjoy your pictures! :)

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure to tie nail to thread before hammering into ceiling.
  • Cut your tape before you start to save time.
  • If hanging more than 1 set of pictures, make sure to space them out enough so they don't get tangled into each other.
  • Try letting your children or family help you by allowing them to select their favorite pictures.
  • This is a nice & thoughtful gift idea for family & friends.
  • Don't hang pictures too low to avoid children pulling on pictures.
  • Don't place pictures close to air conditioning vents to keep pictures from spinning & getting tangled.
  • Don't hang pictures close to doors to avoid them from getting caught in door when opened or closed.
