If you are the type of person that enjoys making your own at-home accessories & especially hate shopping for a TV antenna, then check out this article. Here is an easy way to save time as well as save money with this home-made antenna. I was frustrated with the antenna I wasted my money on, or shall I say, that my sister spent her money on & just to came up with the idea to make my own & it actually worked!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 medium-sized sewing pin w/ plastic bulb at end
  • 1 piece of speaker wire, about 1 foot long
  • 1 small antenna, like the one you would buy for a car (that you can mount with two-face tape)
  • Wire cutter

Step1
Take wire cutter & strip each end, about 1/2 in.
Step2
Wrap one end of wire around needle, close to bulb, making sure the wire touches the metal part of needle to get good contact.
Step3
After wrapping one end of the wire to the needle, take the other end & attach it to the antenna, making sure that there is good contact.
Step4
Then take the needle & stick it inside of the outlet where you would connect the antenna.
Step5
Last but not least, turn on your television & adjust the antenna until the picture is clear! Wallah, now you can sit back & enjoy some TV.

Tips & Warnings

  • When using a car antenna, make sure you get one that is adjustable (like the bendable straws) this makes it easy to move it into different angles thus providing better reception.
  • Use a big enough sewing pin to stay snug into cable outlet that way you don't have to be pushing it back in every so often.
  • Be careful not to poke yourself with the needle, if you do, make sure to wash it with soap & water & then spray some antiseptic to avoid infection & irritation.
