Place the slices of cheese on top of the bread to cover the surface.

    • 5

Spread the butter or margarine on the other slice of bread.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add sliced tomatoes for another traditional version of a grilled cheese sandwich.

  • Cut the sandwich in half so it's easier to eat.

  • Don't turn the heat on the stove too high in an attempt to cook the sandwich more quickly; the bread will burn before the cheese begins to melt.

  • When placing the cheese, don't let any hang over the bread. It will melt burn on to the pan.
