Having a company website isn't profitable unless you can get customers to return to the site. With successful Internet businesses, over half of their customers are repeat customers. To make your website more profitable, you need to persuade customers to return to your site and use your services.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Review and make changes to your website regularly. Update the information regularly to give visitors a reason to return and see what is new. Search engine spiders review your site more often if it is continuously updated.
Step2
Exchange links with partner sites and other websites to promote your Internet business.
Step3
Offer special incentives or promotional items for limited times. For example, offer monthly specials, that change at a specific time each month. This can entice customers to return to your website and check the different specials offered.
Step4
Give customers coupons and incentives for their return. Place coupons or promotional fliers into a customers package when they purchase an item. The coupon can give them a special discount or a free item the next time they purchase from your website.
Step5
Add links to your page. Tell the customer to bookmark the page, add the page to their favorites list or to recommend the site to a friend. This allows the customer to access your site easily.
Step6
Design your site with customers in mind. Keep your site's colors, logos and text styles design uniform. The site's text must be easy to read. If you have an online shopping cart, the site needs to be secure and offer a privacy policy for all the information that is gathered from your customers.
Step7
Supply contact information so customers can contact you by phone, email or fax. Some customers are not comfortable inputting personal information into websites. Many sales may come to your phone line, directed through the website.
Step8
Review your website. Every page needs to have the appropriate keywords, titles, pictures and information.

Tips & Warnings

  • Go our of your way to help customers with their needs and they just might think of your website instead of a competitors the next time around.
  • Do not use information supplied by the customer to send spam emails or bombard them with junk mail. Offer a monthly newsletter but allow them to choose whether or not they want to receive it.
