Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Container
  • Plant
  • Drill
  • 1/8-inch drill bit
  • Potting soil
  • Water
  1. Step 1

Choose a container. Instant containers can be made out of items like rustic buckets, large vase, wooden barrel, baskets or any other item that can fit your plants.

  2. Step 2

The more different types of plants you have in a container, the more color and diversity you get. Plant three to four different types of plants in each container.

  3. Step 3

Drill several small holes, spaced throughout the bottom of the container. This allows ventilation and a place for water to drain.

  4. Step 4

Place the plant or plants in the container. If the container is small, push the plants together to make them fit.

  5. Step 5

Pack potting soil in the container around the plant or plants. The potting soil must be packed tightly.

  6. Step 6

Water the plants well. The potting soil shifts while being watered and sinks down a bit. Add more potting soil as needed and pack tightly.

  7. Step 7

Place the container in a place where it can receive enough sunshine.

Tips & Warnings
  • Container plants are good for locations with limited soil and space.
