You can make your own bouquet, bake your own cake, find an inexpensive wedding dress and design your own invitations when planning your wedding. Design your own wedding and show your friends and family your personal style.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Step1
Choose a day for your wedding with enough time, a year is best, to be creative in your design.
Step2
Decide on a design for your wedding invitation. This will include buying wedding invitation stock. Choosing to put a personal story or poem on the invitation along with information like date, time and place of the wedding will give your invitations that personal and unique touch. Include stickers, stamps, and embossing for this project to make your invitations stand out.
Step3
Use a reputable bakery for your cake. Go through the pictures they have and design your cake with squared or rounded edges, real or icing flowers. A simple design that you can do yourself is making several cakes, buying the tiers for them to sit on and adding real flowers in a design you choose.
Step4
Go to a high-end department store at least once a week and check the sale racks. This is a great way to get your wedding dress at an inexpensive price. If you can sew, buy two dresses and blend them together.
Step5
Buy silk flowers from a hobby store to design your bouquet for the bride and bridesmaids and also the groom and groomsmen. This allows you to pick your favorite flower even if it is out of season. You can have the bridal party meet up and design the flowers together.
Step6
Pick food by looking at the area you choose to have the reception and the time of day. Design a desert wedding by choosing to have it at about 7 p.m. or a breakfast buffet wedding in the morning.
Step7
Decorate the tables at the reception with a theme either by using a color theme or another theme like beach, rodeo, or Victorian. Again using silk will allow you make the centerpieces early on and will not wilt or fade.

Tips & Warnings

  • When choosing a color for your wedding party to wear you must think about the colors that will be in the natural environment of where the wedding is being held. For example, if outside, be careful to choose a color that will not blend nor clash with the greenery and natural colors around.
