Winter in northern Australia, which is during our summer months, is still mild and can even get downright hot. It is dry, though, unlike the rainy summer months of the wet season. You will be able to do more outdoor activities since rain won't get in your way. So, pack your bags prepared for a full-blown adventurous vacation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go ready to dress in the coastal areas as you would for a moderately hot summer here, expecting to find temperatures in the eighties and nineties.

  2. Step 2

Take warmer clothes to wear if you will be traveling very far inland, since temperatures can dip into the 60s and 70s during the day.

  3. Step 3

Pack a sweater or light jacket to wear after the sun goes down, since the warm days turn into cool nights.

  4. Step 4

Include a heavy jacket and thermal underwear if you plan to travel into the heart of the country overnight--temperatures at night can drop to freezing and below.

  5. Step 5

Follow the same guidelines for dressing on excursions that you would in the summer months: wear neutral colors in breathable fabrics, and don't forget the hat and sunglasses. And of course, a good pair of walking shoes is crucial for outdoor trekking.

  6. Step 6

Dress to impress in the larger urban areas. You will want to sport casual in a classy way, opting for trendy Bermuda shorts or a cotton skirt over Daisy Dukes for women, and a smart pair of jeans or slacks over cargo shorts for men.

Tips & Warnings
  • Since many restaurants and clubs implement a dress code. Don't expect to walk into a nice venue wearing a tank top or flip-flops.
  • Don't forget the swimming gear, since winter months are still a great time to snorkel and scuba dive.
  • Have proper travel documentation, including a travel visa, before leaving the country.
