Summers, which for Australia run from November through March, are hot and dry in the southern part of the country. Go prepared with beachwear and summer attire.

From Quick Guide: Ultimate Packing List
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose lightweight pieces of clothing that are breathable and allow for long-distance walking. Linen pants, capris, shorts and skirts are appropriate, as are short-sleeved shirts and tank tops. If you will be spending any time in the interior of the country then you will especially want heat-friendly clothes.

  2. Step 2

Pack a swimsuit, swimsuit cover-up and flip-flops for heading to the beach.

  3. Step 3

Select clothing that is casual yet stylish for touring the major cities. Australian urbanites, as in most countries, sport the latest trends and dress with an air of chic sophistication. Dressing similarly will help you blend in with the culture.

  4. Step 4

Take a glamorous outfit to wear to the Sydney Opera House or other glitzy venue. Take one or two other outfits of less formal dress attire to wear when you go out in the evening and want to look your best.

  5. Step 5

Include a sturdy pair of walking shoes for treading around.

  6. Step 6

Bring along a sweater and slightly warmer clothing if you will be visiting the most extreme southern regions of Victoria or Tasmania. While these areas will still be relatively warm, they can get significantly cooler than their northern neighbors.

  7. Step 7

Buy any extra essentials, such as shampoo or toothpaste, while you're there. You will be able to find these items easily at a local drugstore. However, many other goods, such as clothing and shoes, are much pricier there, so don't plan to do all your shopping once you arrive.

Tips & Warnings
  • A light sweater for chilly nights, as well as a compact umbrella tucked into your suitcase, is never a bad idea.
  • Don't forget to obtain a travel visa before taking off.
  • You will need an adapter and converter if you want to use American electrical appliances while there.
